Tighter restrictions have been brought in across the UK and have seen a number of areas we work in being placed into Tier 2 and 3 restrictions. We have put together this article to remind our operatives of the basic steps they can take to help stop the spread of coronavirus on site and in the home.
As a construction worker, what can I do to prevent the spread of the virus?
- If you display symptoms, contact your supervisor or manager on site, stay home and isolate in line with current NHS guidance.
- Follow the recommended NHS steps if you are sick and book a test if advised.
- Limit close contact by observing a distance of up to 2 metres, when possible.
- Limit the number of workers in small or enclosed spaces such as canteens, elevators or vehicles.
- Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds, use hand sanitiser when washing facilities are not available.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as shared tools, machines, vehicles and other equipment, handrails, ladders, doorknobs, and toilets.
- Face coverings are required on public transport, in shops and during hospital visits, however, it is advised that face coverings should be used in settings when social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
- Refrain from touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- If you have to cough or sneeze, use a tissue and dispose of in a bin immediately. Wash or sanitise your hands immediately.
If you are affected by the new tiered restrictions set out by the government and are worried about how it may affect your mental health, please refer to this NHS webpage on how to look after yourself whilst at home.
At Role Group, we have worked very hard, in alliance with our clients, to ensure that measures are in place to protect the health and safety of our operatives.
